Flower Box II
The inspiration for this box came from a multitude of floral shapes. For example: The "Base" from a lilly flower. The "flower" from native Australian species. I have used Australian native species in this box: Base:'"Paddock" Jarrah, "Stem": Silver ash, "Flower" Lace She Oak, "Pistil" Huon Pine. The piece has been finished with Danish Oil and wax.l

Karri and Silver Ash Flower Box Series I
This is the first box in "Flower Box Series I". The base was turned from a block of West Australian Karri (Eualyptus diversicolor). The exterior of the base was then carved to create the "leaves". The exterior was then burnt and etched to give "veins" to the "leaves". The base was finished with Danish oil. The lid "flower" was made from Silver Ash (Flindersia bourjotiana) and finished with a friction polish wax.
