Western Rosewood Jewellery Box
This Western Rosewood box was initially made for a client, however, my wife has right of first refusal and added it to her collection of jewellery boxes. Western Rosewood is a fantastic timber to turn. Finished with Organ oil using the 600 grit paper on the still wet surface. An open view of this box can be seen in the following image.

His and Hers Hoop Pine Boxes This pair of lidded boxes were made from a piece of spalted Hoop Pine (Araucaria cunninghamii).
I was commissioned to make two boxes for a couple in Japan. I thought of a chess set with a King and Queen, similar pieces but slightly different. I have made the boxes with matching tops but have made round "feminine" and straight "masculine" bottoms. The spalting (fungal attack) adds to the look of this pair of boxes. The boxes are finished with wax and highly polished. |
